Practising our boxing skills just like Bob Fitsimmons
All set for the Rural Swimming Competition, 2013!
We have been learning to write a descriptive 'Slice of Life' recount on an experience in our lives.
Here are some exerts from our writing:
We opened up the kennel and she bounded out at the speed of light. She jumped on every single one of us. Then Mum asked “What are we going to call her?” Now she answers to the name of Jess. Archie
It was cold, and dark and wet out. I thought that I could hear a sound it was faint but I could still hear ‘Laura’ there it was again! ‘Laura’. For a minute there I thought I was just having some good times in a dream but no it was Dad. Who would have guessed. ‘Get up quickly come on hurry up.’ Dad come on it’s a Sunday morning! Laura
I kept on pushing and trying to rip the ball out but I couldn’t do it. I was getting really nervous, there was lots of shoving and growls and grunting. I looked up and saw that we were almost at the try line! We needed just to push a little bit more to score. I couldn’t believe my eyes, was I really going to score a try? William
When I heard the news I was devastated. I stared in utter horror at my mother. She was joking, She had to be, but no one could pull a joke like that. My body froze. My blood tuned cold. My mum’s best friend in the world, was dead! Alice
I was thinking about Christchurch, and what was going to happen to us. I thought we were all going to die. I was thinking the house was going to fall down. That was my first earthquake but it wasn’t going to be my last. Jordan
I was soaring around the yard, it was a wonderful day . I flew around the corner but I couldn’t stop! My heart started pounding I was panicking . I couldn’t find the brake, my foot was frantically trying to find it. I kicked all the gears but none of them seemed to work. It was too late, BASH! I went crashing though the fence and into the water. Molly
